Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe

WHY THEY SHOULD BE YOUR CHOW HUB!

Got a craving but not sure what for? Want a lot of choices? Want it to be more than affordable and available in lots of locations? I think I found the place for ya-Sweet Hut! I recently discovered the place while staying with friends close by the Marietta location.

We got up for the usual “cuppa” Joe she asked if I would like to ride over with her and pick some things out for breakfast. Me being a foodie and all…Woof!  Needless to say I was pretty impressed and here’s why:

REASON NUMBER 1

If you have been there then you already know it is like the IKEA of bakeries. Where Asian meets Scandinavian meets chic meets WOW!  I have an interest in good design and branding and this place has got it in spades.

REASON NUMBER 2

The idea of help yourself here does not feel like the buffet you really don’t want to visit.  You get a pretty tray with handles, a paper liner and your own personal tongs to make your selections.

All the clear bins are spotless and beautifully presented with the name, content, price and a full description in delicious detail.

There is something here for everyone among both sweet and savory offerings.   The prices are very good so I see why there are so many young people here with the average price around $1.50 per piece.  This fools you into thinking you will need more items than you really do.

I can usually eat two buns and MAYBE split a dessert.  Your biggest problem is going to be how to narrow down the choices although they are very happy to package up anything you want.

Not your average buffet; Sweet Hut Bakery is doing things differently

REASON NUMBER 3

It is all about the bun man!  There is a mixed international flavor to the place.  Looking through your options you will see what I mean; Portuguese Tarts, Red Bean Buns, Pork Sung Rolls, Hot Dog Buns, Danish Nutella Buns, Dolce du Leche, Ham & Cheese Rolls and Irish Cream Donuts just to name a few.

I have tried some of these and they are delicious.  My favorite is the Pork Sung Bun which has a savory crunchy pork confetti all over it.  (I won’t say how many of these I have eaten in one sitting before.)

To me the bun is based on sort of an Asian bao bun that is a fluffy, steamed, slightly chewy sort of thing.  Any bun you pick will be good lovely to look at and let’s face it; you eat with your eyes first remember?

REASON NUMBER 4

Did I say they make cakes and desserts?  Luscious little mini pockets of melt in your mouth goodness!  You can choose a mousse like Mango or Lychee Mascarpone.   How about a cheesecake like Oreo, Strawberry or Chocolate Ganache?

Stunning cakes can be picked up for a dinner party, birthday or special occasion starting around $25.  Special order wedding cakes can be had as well.  Skip on over to their website and look at cakes they have done for others

When you see how they are presented, the art and design that goes into branding that carries through everything they do, you will be a big fan too.  Their corporate branding statement is installed on the wall like a piece of art: “Stressed spelled backwards is Desserts. Coincidence? I think not!” Dead clever!

REASON NUMBER 5

This is an anytime day or night kinda place with hours from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM and until 1:00 AM on the weekends.  Just another reason the younger crowds are around.  With what they offer, you can eat breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, dessert, coffee/tea break, late night binge or just because.

With six locations (five of which are in Atlanta) any side of town will do as well.  What’s not to like?  Oh and for that break time we mentioned earlier just take a look at their Café Menu which offers a lot of choices.

Also note that Sweet Hut offers catering.  You can get a box of sweet or savory buns serving 8-12 and up to 20-24 for a range of $39 to $89.  Sandwiches, burgers and panini’s are also available.  A great way to feed a lot of people impressively and inexpensively.

CONCLUSION

Head on over to one of the locations near you and check this place out. You will be hooked just like me for all the reasons I just listed! Happy eating!

If you liked what you read you may want to read some additional blogs under Edible Fare. Hey, don’t be a stranger! Let me hear from you on what you thought of the place and what you want to read about in the future OK? Until next time…
