LOTS TO SEE AND DO AT ATLANTA BRAVES STADIUM

After a couple of eye surgeries recently put us in the same area as SunTrust Battery Park, home to the Atlanta Braves; we decided to explore. We thought we’d do a Beginners Guide for newbies.

Right now it is pretty easy to find parking when a game isn’t going on. I suggest you go the first couple of times when there isn’t one so you can get in and out easily and get the lay of the land.

The 3rd level is where most the action is from a restaurant and shop standpoint. When you first walk out of the garage and turn onto the main drag you get the great view in the shot above.

POPULOUS HITS A HOME RUN ON DESIGN AT BATTERY PARK

The architecture and interior design firm, Populous, hit a home run on the design and is very proud of their outcome. The challenge in new stadiums is the increasing emphasis on the experiences the fans want before and after a game.

So they decided to create an authentic Southern destination that provided fans ample reasons to come early and leave late.

Community is everything and they wanted the design to cater to all kinds of baseball fans from die hard to casual. The park is a beautiful example of living, working and playing in the same area.

While offering traditional hospitality it also offers technology from the Xfinity rooftop patio to the first zip line and climbing tower in a ballpark.

SUPER COLORFUL GRAPHICS GIVE A FUNKY, FUN VIBE

The graphics package for everything including the restaurants are great; very colorful and fun especially when everything lights up for the evening.

There is a sound system with music playing constantly creating a funky music vibe especially if the weather is nice enough to sit outdoors. You know it is great fun to be here when a game is going on! 😍

The apartments all around have views to this area creating a party atmosphere. You might either have to be a die hard fan or very young to want to live in the middle of this but the apartments are beautiful and spacious with large decks and patios and inner spaces created to keep out the noise.

GOOD RESTAURANTS IN BATTERY PARK ATLANTA

Not sure what you want to eat? You got plenty of choices. When we first hit the main street we looked left and saw there was Cru-a food and wine bar. It looked well designed and contemporary with a nice menu highlighting their wine offerings.

Look right and you see The El Felix, a stylish Tex Mex, serving rustic upscale Texas cuisine. The Yard House across from it is an upscale sports bar with lots of screens and terrific choices of beer. How about a slice from Antico with it’s acclaimed wood-fired Neopolitan pizzas and homemade gelato.

Maybe you would rather sit back in total Southern comfort and try a Bloody Mary (one of the best I have ever had-but I digress) with some pimento cheese sandwiches at the Garden & Gun Club.

Want to mix a little Sports & Social? This place is fantastic with lots of pop and color, a beachy vibe and a southern meets latin meets asian kind of menu. After the closing of Todd English’s Tavern next door, it appears they are folding it into their own venue and getting ready to reopen it.

These are just a few of your choices their are many more to choose from when looking on the website link to dining at Battery Park.

101 THINGS TO DO AT SUNTRUST BATTERY PARK

No really! Besides eating, you can shop, climb a tower, zip line, hang out on the Xfinity patio, rent a party suite for your group, hear a concert at the Coca Cola Roxy, watch the fireworks, run the bases and more. You will find it all on the link on what to do at Battery Park.

There are several nice hotels around including the Omni which is right on property. They offer great packages if you want to spend a weekend seeing a couple of games and trying out a new restaurant for every meal!

THE PARK IS A HOME RUN

No matter where or when you go, expect to have some good food and a lot of fun. I was one of the skeptical Atlantans that thought this place was a big waste of money and that the Braves should never have left Turner Field. I get it now. The times move on and what the fans want changes. Yes, it was expensive but it is also premium and a whole butt load of fun.

I hope you enjoyed this Beginner’s Guide. I have tried to give you a lot of links that will provide details and tips. You might also want to read other blogs about our epic meals at Garden and Gun and Sports & Social.

Hey, don’t be a stranger. If you have been to the Park and have some great tips for me to update the blog with, let me know! Tell me what you would like to read about too. Until next time…
